Instead Lil and I joined up with the three kids from Canada and went to a snake farm to watch them milk the snakes. It is the second oldest snake farm in the world and we got to see a King Cobra, a black cobra and an albino cobra, a tree snake (the smallest but deadliest) and a few others. Then we all got our pictures taken with a Burmese Python draped around our necks. It was totally cool but I suppose only if you are okay with snakes...
The five of us made our way back downtown and went to eat at an American style restaurant. I have no idea what possessed us to do that but the five of us we just really in the mood for some good BBQ. It was actually quite delicious but I am a bit sad I strayed from my initial plan to only eat Thai food. Meh, I am sure I will have plenty in the end...
Speaking of Thai food...amazingly we have been eating the food, eating the fruit, and drinking here for days now and have had NO problems...impressive!
After lunch we decided to go check out Thailand's Chinatown. We piled into a cab and the final fare was about 50 Baht to go across town. We all reluctantly handed over our 10 Baht...a little upset that we had spent THAT much. Until we realized that that is $0.30. Then it didn't seem so bad...haha!!!! Actually it was a bit over 50 Baht and so we each gave 13 Baht to "cover the other people" and rather than dealing with the change we just left him with 65 Baht (about $2) and it totally made his day. He was like "thank you, thank you!" I like Thai taxis...
Chinatown was kind of a letdown. I have to say I prefer New York's. This might also have something to do with the monsoon that started just as we got there. Terribly disappointing. Then we were trying to get home but couldn't get a cab and couldn't quite communicate our need very well with the Thai people who did not seem to speak any English. It took awhile but we eventually got back to Soi 1 safe and sound.
